Mola-she Dêtîkè

Mola-she Dêtîkè (/ˈmola/ /ʃe/ [alternate] [altitude]) is a subtropical Large Town located in Nutiaqisiz̄u Dutchy, Yêgècêkêthê Provence, within the Dalandic Empire.

The name Mola-she Dêtîkè is derived from the Iron Elvish language, as Mola-she Dêtîkè was founded by Cúnvoī Hä̂féó̄ 'Zeni Lilith' Có̄ Rërm Có̄̋ Dyême, who was culturaly Iron Elven.

Climate

Mola-she Dêtîkè has a yearly average temperature of 16°C (60°F), with its average temperature during the summer being a pleasant 23°C (73°F) and its average temperature during the winter being a cold 10°C (50°F). Mola-she Dêtîkè receives an average of 218 cm/y (85 in/y) of precipitation, most of which comes in the form of rain during the fall. Mola-she Dêtîkè covers an area of nearly 7 km² (2 mi²), and an average elevation of 1680 m (5511 ft) above sea level.

Overview

Mola-she Dêtîkè was founded durring the late 16th century in fall of the year 1462, by Cúnvoī Hä̂féó̄ 'Zeni Lilith' Có̄ Rërm Có̄̋ Dyême. The establishment of Mola-she Dêtîkè was plagued by a lack of willing colonists. After attempts to pay people to resettle failed Cúnvoī Hä̂féó̄ 'Zeni Lilith' Có̄ Rërm Có̄̋ Dyême struck deals with nearby nations and communities to establish Mola-she Dêtîkè as a prison colony.

Mola-she Dêtîkè was built using the conventions of Iron Elven durring the late 16th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Mola-she Dêtîkè is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature plaster covered brickwork used to form structures with an emphasis on symmetry, proportion, geometry and the regularity of parts. Orderly arrangements of columns, pilasters and lintels, as well as the use of semicircular arches, hemispherical domes, niches and aediculae can be found everywhere such that only size of building and yard can be used to measure the general prosparity of a given building's owners due to a general wealthy feeling the style gives off.

Mola-she Dêtîkè is buildings are arranged arrounded highly ordered system of premissive packed earth streets which form hexical paterns, allowing the incides of the octagons to be common grounds for the buildings on the edges, be it for parkland, yardspace, plazas, or markets. The town rests behind the absurdity that is a thick, timber braced, wall made of clay bricks. While visualy impressive and certainly an astetic, Mola-she Dêtîkè's wall provides no actual defence against siege equipment due to the choice of its cosntruction materials. Even nonexperts can tell the town is trying to impress rather than defend with its walls, towers, and gatehouses. Though admittedly, they do look nice... To primitive tribals who have never seen fortifications before. The town's political statment focused walls are visibly old, but also obviously maintained semi-regularly. Its likly the local malishia or garrison are tasked with ocasional mantance of the towns defences.

A look around Mola-she Dêtîkè makes it abundantly clear the town suffered something horrible some time ago. It’s a quiet town filled with closed scriptoriums, people quietly yet dejectedly reading in isolated places around town, and the occasional book laying in a heap of garbage.

Civic Infrastructure

Mola-she Dêtîkè has an Office of Civil Groundskeeping, which works to enforce local ordinances relating to the construction and upkeep up of all plant life, water features, and other natural decorations within Mola-she Dêtîkè. They are also responsible for the maintenance of these features. Notably, the OCG is not responsible for Mola-she Dêtîkè's parks.

Mola-she Dêtîkè has an Office of Civil Vicary, which is responsible for providing a livelyhood for all officialy recognised religious figures within Mola-she Dêtîkè.

Mola-she Dêtîkè has a Gravedigger's Guild, which is responsible for collecting the dead and laying them to rest according to all applicable laws and religious customs.

Mola-she Dêtîkè has a Highwayman's Guild, which is tasked with maintaining the roads and highways leading into town as well as keeping them safe for travelers.

Mola-she Dêtîkè has a monistary of an order of Civil Monks, who provide divine-related services to the general public and maintain Mola-she Dêtîkè's public wards, blessings, and other arcane systems.

Mola-she Dêtîkè has a Parks and Recreation Department, which is responsible for the construction, management, and usage rights for all of its parks and parklands. They are not to be confused with the Office of Civil Groundskeeping as they do not hold authority over nor responsibility for Mola-she Dêtîkè's natural decorations nor waterways.

Mola-she Dêtîkè has a Guild of Roadworkers, who are responsible for maintaining the roadways and public paths within town. They also have the duty of enforcing all civil laws relating to the roadways.

Mola-she Dêtîkè has a public schooling program overseen by the Hall of Sages who has the responsibility of ensuring access to affordable high-quality education in all basic classes (Reading, Writing, Mathmatics, General Sciences, General Arcana, and Social Education) is made available to all citizens.

Mola-she Dêtîkè has a public septic system, which allows its citizens to have indoor bathrooms. The septic system is overseen by the League of Sewerkeepers, who posses the legal authority to enforce all laws relating to the septic system, and are also tasked with its maintenance and upkeep.

Cultural Notes

The locals are in a state of despair and dull apathy. They've lost the things that used to give them pride and hope, with the best among them carrying on out of habitual duty and the worst giving ready hands to shameful deeds and ignoble acts. No one really believes the future can be better, and most seek only to satisfy immediate appetites.

Mola-she Dêtîkè's garrison was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used is characterized by order, symmetry, formal design, grandiosity, and elaborate ornamentation. Architectural characteristics include balustrades, balconies, columns, cornices, pilasters, and triangular pediments. Stone exteriors are massive and grandiose in their symmetry; interiors are typically polished and lavishly decorated with sculptures, swags, medallions, flowers, and shields. Interiors will often have a grand stairway and opulent ballroom..

Due to the actions of local Kami, autumn is short in Mola-she Dêtîkè.

The Manticore near Mola-she Dêtîkè are known to be almost tame, such that they can be put to domestic use.

Mola-she Dêtîkè's citizens partake in a curious ritual relating to their local kami. It takes place in spring and involves destroying a prepared ritual vessel to channel Augury energies of tier 1 via chanting.

Economy

In time immemorial, reportedly some time during the late 2nd century a most peculiar disaster struck Mola-she Dêtîkè, causing great chunks of ice to fall from the sky. Mola-she Dêtîkè lost 241 people, 296 livestock, and 31 buildings in the disaster.. The ice rain is generally remembered as the Mourning Rain.
